Thread Lift Treatment

How does a Thread Lift work?

The Thread Lift is inserted to cause tension in the skin which aids in giving the face an immediate lifting effect. They are also inserted for the purpose of stimulating collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid which in turn results in a firmer skin texture.

Who is suitable for this procedure?

This procedure is recommended for both men and women, over the age of 30, who are showing signs of ageing, but do not want to undergo a full facelift or any heavy invasive surgery. The Thread Lift treatment exists as a non-surgical alternative to invasive surgery.

Which areas can be treated with the Thread Lift?

Lift can be used to treat multiple areas of the face: Facial contour, lower jawline, neck and nasolabial folds.

What does the procedure involve?

A small injection of local anaesthetic is applied to the area being treated. The thread is then injected using a cannula through a small incision. Once the thread is in place, slight compression of the tissue is performed to reshape it by hand and to obtain the desired lifting effect. Swelling or bruising following the treatment, is very normal. Some discomfort may be experienced but can be managed with paracetamol.

When can I see results and how long will it last?

Results can be seen immediately and will continue to improve over time. Full results may be seen around 6-12 weeks post procedure and should last up to 12 months.
The threads used are an absorbable polydioxanone (PDO) barbed suture indicated for use in soft tissue approximation. With a decade worth of safety track record in surgery, PDO is a safe raw material that has been used for orthopaedic and cardiovascular surgery for wound closure. As a safe raw material that is completely absorbed by the body through hydrolysis, PDO causes minimal tissue reaction and tissue trauma.
PDO threads are a minimally invasive procedure that does not require general anaesthesia nor big incisions for your patients. There are tiny barbs strategically placed and moulded all around the thread. Once the threads are placed into the skin, the barbs anchor onto sagging skin, and the thread can be manoeuvred to achieve a naturally youthful and defined look.
Not only can it improve the appearance of sagging skin, PDO (polydioxanone) can also help promote the stimulation of collagen and neovascularization, which helps to improve skin elasticity, texture, fine lines, and volume for a timeless rejuvenation.
Unlike conventional sutures that cut the barbs from the integral core of the thread, The 360 degrees of helically positioned barbs are designed to maximize tensile and anchoring strength in order to securely anchor onto the 3D structure of the soft tissue for effective and powerful approximation.
