    Dermapen 4™ is the microneedling breakthrough of the decade utilising an advanced needle cartridge innovation. Dermapen 4™ glides over the skin creating millions of fine fractional channels. Dermal Micro Needling

As we age we lose a percentage of collagen in our skin yearly from around age 25 onwards. The 5 years around menopause is the most detrimental to our skin, where we see a loss of around 30% of collagen in those years alone. While nothing can rejuvenate our collagen in our skin back to our younger selves, we can have treatments like skin needling to help replenish our losses as much as possible. Due to the collagen induction process that happens with skin needing, there isn't really a skin that wouldn't benefit from having treatment. While many see injectables as the main way of targeting the ageing process, this treatment is the most intensive you can do to help the entire facial canvas. 

HOW DOES IT WORK?

A pen-like device which has sterile, disposable cartridge tip containing small needles attached, is moved over the skin’s surface to create tiny micro injuries, not visible to the naked eye. A specially formulated hyaluronic acid is then used to fill the tiny channels created in the skin. Absorption of product introduced at this stage is increased by over 80% through these open channels. These tiny punctures also stimulate tissue regeneration through a process called collagen induction therapy. For ultimate results, growth factors from your own platelet rich plasma (PRP) can be used instead of the hyaluronic acid.

 

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

For optimal results we recommended three treatments at 6 – 8 weekly intervals. The results start showing at about 6 weeks, but keep improving until they reach their maximum effect at 6 months. How long the results last is dependent on how well the skin is looked after following your sessions. Using active skincare and good sun protection is the best way to do this. It is also recommended to have maintenance treatments every year.

 

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

Immediately after a treatment you will look red (inflammatory reaction a bit like a bad sunburn), which will last 12 – 48 hours. Bruising in some areas is common and some puffiness may occur also. These will resolve in a few days.
