Dermal Blading/Micro Blading

Blading (also know as epi-blading or derma-planing) is a gentle method of exfoliating the skin, while also removing unwanted fine, vellus facial hair (peach fuzz). It is ideal for treating blonde hair that cannot be treated by light therapy. Blading is an ideal “special occasion” treat (a common procedure for movie stars before a red carpet event) as it makes your skin glow and look smoother than usual. With the application of makeup afterwards, the light catches your face more evenly, which is especially flattering in photographs.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The procedure involves the use of a surgical blade that is worked over the face, gently removing both dead surface skin and hair in one go. After treatment, the skin feels smooth, soft and amazing! Blading can be done as a stand-alone treatment or in conjunction with a light, antioxidant medifacial to further enhance results.

HOW LONG  DOES IT LAST?

This varies from person to person depending on their individual hair growth cycle, but generally most clients will enjoy at least 4 - 6 weeks of smoother skin.  Blading can be performed at any stage once the hair begins to grow back, but generally a minimum of 4 weeks is recommended.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

There is no downtime associated with blading. It is a very safe and effective treatment for even the most sensitive skins. Contrary to popular belief, this procedure does not change hair growth in any way, i.e. hair does NOT grow back, thicker, darker or coarser. A free pre-treatment consultation will determine your suitability.

Blading can be performed on pregnant or lactating clients, and can be a helpful way to maintain any pregnancy hair growth that often disappears after hormones have settled down. Blading is viewed as one of the safest ways to manage temporary hormonal hair growth as treatments are not disrupting the hair follicle as you would be with waxing or threading.

Clients with oily skin may sometimes find that their skin seems oilier after a blading procedure as our vellus hairs act as a 'wick' to soak up the natural oil secretions that occur during the day.

Any client having an antioxidant peel after their blading will need to follow post peel downtime instructions.
