Fungal Toenails (Onychomycosis)

Onychomycosis is a fungal infection of the nailbed caused by Dermatophytes (Ringworm), yeasts (Candida) and moulds.  These parasites thrive in warm, moist conditions such as shoes and boots.

Symptoms include unsightly thickening, separating and discolouration of the nail and may be white, yellow, green or even black. The infection can start from damage or injury to the nail or the skin around the nail.

Onychomycos is easily spread through direct contact with an infected person, or picked up from public facilities such as swimming pools, gyms and showers.

It is usually treated with a topical or systemic medication but can be persistent. We an offer an alternative treatment without the side effects of medication or messy creams and tinctures.
